Token Gating
Automatically assign Discord roles based on what members hold on-chain.
A Token-Gated Rule (TGR) links a Discord role to one or more on-chain requirements. If a member's linked wallets satisfy the requirements, they receive the role automatically. TheyOwnIt re-checks every hour.

Join a server that uses token gating.
That’s it — your roles are verified and assigned automatically once your account is connected. You can also run /verify to trigger an immediate check.
If you sell a qualifying token, the role is removed on the next sync cycle.
No manual action is needed after connecting. TheyOwnIt continuously monitors your on-chain balances and updates your roles automatically.
For Admins — Creating a TGR
Open the Admin Dashboard and select your server.
Go to Token-Gated Rules.
Click New Rule — choose the Discord role this rule controls.
Add one or more contracts: provide the chain, contract address, and token standard (ERC-20, ERC-721, or ERC-1155).
Set a minimum balance for each contract (e.g. ≥ 1 NFT, ≥ 100 tokens).
Optionally add attribute filters for ERC-721 / ERC-1155 (e.g. "Background = Blue").
Choose the match logic — AND (all contracts required) or OR (any one contract qualifies).
Save the rule.
Supported Token Standards
ERC-20
Fungible tokens. Gate by minimum balance (e.g. ≥ 100 USDC).
ERC-721
NFTs. Gate by ownership count and optional attribute filters (traits).
ERC-1155
Multi-token standard. Gate by specific token ID and balance.
For ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens, you can require specific metadata attributes.
When multiple attribute filters are applied, the member must hold at least one token matching all of the filters.
Member must satisfy all contracts in the rule. Use when you want to require holdings across multiple collections.
Member must satisfy any one contract. Use when multiple collections should each qualify independently.
Hourly Auto-Sync
TheyOwnIt automatically re-checks balances every hour. Members can also run /verify to trigger an immediate check.
Your Privacy
Token gating only checks whether your wallets meet the rule's requirements — your wallet addresses, balances, and holdings are never shared publicly or exposed to other server members. Only the resulting role is visible. If you only use token-gated roles (no PFP or ENS verification), your on-chain identity stays completely private.
